The world’s ugliest animal, one that can be quite haunting to behold, is the Blobfish. With its bloated, pinkish-white body, wrinkled face, and a mouth that sags, it has earned the unenviable title of the ugliest creature on Earth.
The Blobfish, also known as the “Blobfish,” was declared the world’s ugliest animal in a 2013 poll conducted by the Ugly Animal Preservation Society.
The appearance of the Blobfish is enough to leave many people with a sense of unease. Their bodies are puffed up, and they have a pinkish-white hue. Their faces are creased, and their mouths appear to be sagging, resembling the character Ditto from Pokémon.
However, this unattractive appearance is only prominent when they are taken out of their familiar deep-sea habitat, where the sudden change in pressure transforms their appearance. In their natural environment, they look perfectly normal.
Blobfish are found at extreme depths in the ocean, typically ranging from 600 to 1,200 meters, making them inaccessible to humans without high-pressure submersibles.
They have evolved to thrive in these extreme conditions, with soft, boneless bodies and flesh resembling gelatin.
