by Mum’s Shock As She Had Conceived Naturally With Triplets Just As She’s About To Start IVF After 2 Treatment Years
Stephanie Latcham, 27, and partner Michael Gough, 30, from Ferryhill, Durham, were stunned to discover she had conceived naturally and say their daughters are their “little miracles”. A couple who were about to start IVF ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ after sᴛʀᴜɢɢʟɪɴɢ to conceive for two years.
Stephanie Latcham, 27, and partner Michael Gough, 30, from Ferryhill, Durham, were about to start IVF ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ after failing to naturally conceive for two years and suffering two ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs. They decided to treat themselves to a much-needed holiday before starting the gruelling round of ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ.
Michael and Stephanie had resigned themselves to starting IVF in 2019 as after two years, and two ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs, they had been unable to become pregnant.
Stephanie said: “Michael proposed to me whilst we were away, so within a month I was engaged to the love of my life”.
And they were stunned when they came back from their trip to Mallorca, Spain, to discover Stephanie had conceived naturally – with triplets.
Stephanie, who has Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, was gobsmacked when a sonographer told them they had not one, but three sacks after the first had split twice naturally. It is a one in 200 million chance of identical triplets, we feel incredibly lucky.”
The ecstatic couple’s family doubled in size when triplets Ollie-Anna, Isabella and Brianna were born happy and healthy on March 30, 2019.
Stephanie said: “We never imagined our baby dream would come true naturally and while we were on holiday. I’d suffered two ᴍɪsᴄᴀʀʀɪᴀɢᴇs in the past and after being diagnosed with PCOS, I thought they only way for us to have our own baby was through IVF. But while on holiday we conceived on September 9, just one day after Michael proposed. Three weeks after we came home, I found out I was pregnant on September 30, we were in such shock, it was incredible.”
“The first scan in October showed us baby one, two weeks later baby two and a week after that there was baby three. It was the best feeling in the world knowing I was carrying three miracles after everything we had been through – it finally happened to us. We were blessed with these for a reason. Life very quickly changed once the babies were born. Life is hectic now, but I would not have it any other way, we have a good routine in place, they go for feeds every four hours and in those four hours we have to feed, burp, change, play with them and get them to sleep.” she said
